Profiling your identity and actions
Internet surveillance and data retention often lead to the creation of a profile of your actions. These profiles can be used to make assumptions about your identity and future actions, as well as sold to marketing agencies and data brokers. Browser cookies, when set and queried for by various websites can also result in a dossier of your browsing preferences and general interests. The process of gathering information to identify your habits and friends (social graph) on the Internet is referred to as profiling.
