I thought Bitlocker only works with Windows professional, which is a big deal, because in most cases, when a licence is legally purchased, the cheapest option is selected and it is not Professional. So this info should be added, as well as what could be an alternative (Truecrypt?).

its actually only ultimate and enterprise on vista+7 and pro+ on 8 and afterward. I've added the clarification.
