Your actions on the Internet are inextricably linked to your IP address. They are recorded by your Internet service provider, in accordance with Data retention legislation passed in most countries, and often times by the website you are visiting as well. The IP address can also be linked to a geographic location, as you can see by visiting http://www.hostip.info. There are several solutions to 'hiding' your identity (IP address) from the the site you are visiting or masking your true destination from the ISP. Disassociating your identity from the IP address assigned to you on the network, requires a different approach however.
