<div>EFF refers to OS X 10.4 and we are already at 10.11, and Apple official advice is as follows: &quot; If you want to delete files that contain sensitive information, you can use Secure Empty Trash. Files deleted in this way are completely overwritten by meaningless data.&quot; It is very different from what is written in EFF guide, and also you can no longer find anything in help if you look for &quot;erasing free disk space&quot;. I mean you will find related topics, but assuming the guide is for users of all levels of proficiency, this is way too complicated. Maybe a simple piece of advice from Apple could be given and that's it?</div>
